No matter how good a videogame magazine may be, there are some things that you just can't get from print. We can show you the pictures of the games, and tell you about the games, but it's impossible for us to actually put the controller in your hands and let you play the game for yourself, or even see the game in motion. Enter the Ultra Game Players Disc.
On the disc, which works with both Apple Macintosh and PC compatibles, you'll find movies of all the newest, hottest console games, as well as playable demos of the biggest PC and Mac titles. We've also thrown in some on-line software to bring you up to speed. Read the print magazine, check the web site, and view the disc to get the full Ultra Game Players impact.

Destruction Derby 2
Demos
PC
This is a DOS demo. Install Destruction Derby 2 via ULTRAGP\Demos\DD2_DEMO\Install.Bat - Back by popular demand! DESTRUCTION Derby, a high octane hurricane of fender-benders, dangerous driving and crash-test craziness, will be available for both the new PlayStation Game Console in September and PC CD-ROM in November. Destruction Derby, based on the metal-on-metal world of stock cars, is the only racing game where reckless driving pays maximum dividends. This title, following a few sneak previews of preliminary video footage, is already one of the years most eagerly awaited games: Destruction Derbys impact looks certain to be as powerful as its spectacular collisions. Using a unique games engine the design team has ensured that Destruction Derby replicates, in real time 3D, the carnage and impact of hit and run racing. The aim is not simply to win, but to create as much mayhem and destruction possible. Survival is the ultimate goal. Exploding debris and smoke add to the games authenticity, while its no rules approach ensures premium adrenaline. This is a battle to the finish, with the cars realistically reacting to damage and crashes. Players have a choice of four racing themes - wreckin racing, stock car racing, time trials and Destruction Derby sessions in six different stadia. Spectacular smashes and pile ups are racing certainty. Destruction Derby which has the option of two player link mode - has been developed by Reflections, one of the true games innovators. Their relationship with Psygnosis included the Shadow of the Beast series, three games which were benchmark titles in their time.

Mech II Mercenaries
Demos
PC
The birth of the Star League ushered in mankinds Golden Age. The death of the Star Leagues First Lord in 2751 began a devastating battle for succession that even General Aleksandr Kerensky, leader of the Star League army, was powerless to stop. When Kerensky fled the Inner Sphere with the bulk of his troops, the ruling Houses launched an epic-scale conflict that soon threatened to destroy centuries worth of technical knowledge. The year is now 3039. Millions of people have died in the brutal power struggles known as the Succession Wars, and the five Houses of the Successor States continue to press their claims to supremacy: the Federated Suns, the Lyran Commonwealth, the Draconis Combine, the Free Worlds League, and the Capellan Confederation. War has become a way of life. The current climate of war makes it financially beneficial to be a MechWarrior Mercenary who owns a BattleMech; a commodity that becomes more valuable every day. The pilot must use wit and skill to survive as a mercenary, either by joining an existing or creating his own elite mercenary squad - then selling his services to the House that bids highest. In the end, the mercenary will face the ultimate test of combat experience and skill...the Battle of Tukayyid! Mercs Patch is located in CD-ROM:\Demos\Mercs\Patch folder.

Missions of the Reliant
Demos
Macintosh
Missions of the Reliant 2, a zippy shareware game for the Mac, has finally arrived! Missions was first released in 1994 and received Honorable Mention for Best New Shareware Game of 1994 at the MacWorld Expo in Boston. Since then, I have worked long and hard to produce version 2, which contains new scenarios (3 in all), new features, new enemies, and overall improved game play. Missions is a game that combines the swift action of an arcade game with the challenge of commanding a ship and its crew into battle. Unlike many action games, Missions is more than a shoot-em-up; it requires careful strategy, interaction with your crew members, and the skill necessary to juggle the ship and its crew when confronted by a sudden, fierce attack by the enemy.

In this scorching 3-D driving shooter, youre an outcast from the safe zones of the world where food and supplies are abundant. To defend yourself, youve got gritty high-tech weapons like plasma guns, grenade launchers, machine guns, rockets and mortars of death. Its up to you to keep a steady hand on the wheel and a lead foot on the gas as you rocket four hovercars over twelve hair-raising tracks, reeling from the sensation only true driving physics can give you.
